About the Temple:
Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple is one amongst the most popular and ancient Narasimha temples situated in the hilly terrain of Devarayanadurga, 15 kilometers from Tumakuru District in Karnataka. There are two temples built for Lord Narasimha, one at the foothill called Sri Bhogalakshmi Narasimhaswamy temple and other on the hilltop called Yogalakshmi Narasimhaswamy temple.

The temple is said to be 2000 years old built in Dravidian style. Sri Bhogalakshmi Narasimhaswamy temple on the foot of the hill is believed to be installed by Durvasa Mahamuni after engaging in deep penance for several years. The similar but not identical deity of Sri Yogalakshmi Narasimhaswamy on the hillock is said to be created by Lord Brahma. It is believed that the creator of Universe Lord Brahma during Dwapara yuga did penance for several years in the name of Sri Vishnu and impressed by this Lord Vishnu incarnated here as Lord Narasimha.
