About the Temple:
Sri Brahmi Durgaparameshwari temple is in the heart of Kamalashile village on the banks of river Kubja, 35 kilometers from Kundapura taluk of Udupi district. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains and lush green forests. The unique feature of this place is that the Devi is worshipped in the form of Linga which is unusual. This is a convergence of Goddess Kali, Saraswathi and Lakshmi.
The origins of the temple date back to Thretha Yuga. The glory of Sri Kamalashile Kshetra has been inscribed in three chapters of Skanda Purana. As per legends, Goddess Parvati took a form of Linga called Kamalashile in front of Sage Raikwa’s ashram in the Sahyadri forests after destroying demon Khararatasura who was harassing earthly being.
About the Facility/Choultry:
There are totally 4 guest houses in Sri Brahmi Durgaparameshwari temple, Kamalashile which have been constructed for the benefit of the devotees who come to the temple. There are a total of 74 rooms in these guest houses, of which 24 are A/C rooms and 50 are Non A/C rooms. All the rooms have one cot, dressing table, 2 chairs along with attached toilet and bath rooms, geyser, 24 hours water supply and generator facility for the convenience of the pilgrims. Each of the room can accommodate 3 to 4 people. Meat consumption, alcohol consumption and illegal activities are not allowed in these rooms.
